Danny Burke

Original Composition + Sound Design

Danny Burke loves food, loves to cook. Taking wonderfully diverse ingredients and weaving them into memorable flavor combinations; a dressing made of crisped bacon, fresh chives and white balsamic vinegar, grilled skewers of shrimp, fresh jalapenos, and Spanish chorizo… all of this knowledge and skill painstakingly self taught, through trial, error, and ambition.

As one half of Skeptic Music, the team we’ve hired to man our studio #2, Danny is a gifted composer/producer/engineer. His love of all things music reared its’ head at an early age when, at the end of a car ride with his mother, young Danny demanded that he be left in the car, with the radio on, to listen to the rest of an orchestral performance of a Beethoven piece (we suspect NPR, we ask, ‘What piece?’ Danny feigns ignorance, so predictable…). These days, his love of ‘all things music,’ coupled with the Pandora’s box that is the internet, leads him to peruse all manner of obscure record labels, and their attendant stable of artists.

A graduate of St. Thomas University, Danny is an avid (and excellent) downhill skier, a devoted bicyclist (which comes in handy, living downtown), and a gifted intellectual thinker. He’s also a wildly competitive card player (think ‘high stakes’ 500…). He loves red wine from Argentina, travel to anywhere, and reading about theoretical (yes, Theoretical) physics. The latter of which engenders his gleeful declaration:“particle accelerators are rad” We’re speechless.

His life, his tastes, and his food are rich, complex, and unexpected. A philosophy that he brings to his music; every composition he crafts, every track he produces, every sound he engineers… Danny’s life and his art are inexorably linked. And if you’re having a dinner party, he’d be happy to show up and cook for you as well…
